Aims and Objectives of the Qualification
The Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care is aimed at Learners who are considering, or starting out in, a career in Adult Social Care. It equips Learners with underpinning knowledge and understanding of the sector and their role within it. This qualiﬁcation develops the basic knowledge needed and covers the role of the social care worker, safeguarding, communication, diversity, equality and inclusion, and personal development.
This qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards and is recognised as a component in the Health and Social Care (England) Apprenticeship Framework.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.
This qualification is suitable for those who work within the health and social care workforce. It provides Learners with an opportunity to demonstrate their competence in a wide range of job roles.
Learners who achieve this qualification can gain entry level posts in the health and social care sector such as a care assistant. Learners who complete this qualification will be equipped with an understanding of the core areas relating to adult social care and will provide a basis for progression to competence based qualifications. Learners may progress to:
- Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
- Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England
