Aims and Objectives of the Qualification
The Level 3 Award in Adapting Exercise for Ante and Post Natal Participants qualification is a specialised qualification designed for qualified fitness instructors and personal trainers. It enables Learners to expand their expertise and knowledge in the area of exercise prescription for low risk ante and post natal clients. It allows Learners to work with a wider variety of specialist clients. It examines the anatomical changes that occur during pregnancy, as well as the physiological adaptations and psychological considerations of pregnancy. It enables Learners to deliver specific abdominal training recommendations for expectant mothers.
A Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) recognised Level 2 Fitness Instructing Qualification (or Exercise to Music) is required prior to commencing this course. This qualification should have been completed within the last 3 years or proof of current REPs status will also be required.
Learners may progress in a number of areas within the sport, leisure and fitness centres or outdoor activity centres in roles with specialist emphasis on low-risk ante and post natal clients.
On completion of this course, Learners may progress to:
- Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training
- Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral
- Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Physical Activity
- Level 3 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning
