Withdrawal of the QCF - Update

Update image description

We have received a number of enquiries from Centres as to how the announcement from Ofqual of the withdrawal of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) will impact them.

The new Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) became live on 1 October 2015. This does not impact any existing qualifications that currently include QCF within the title. Centres will be able to continue to deliver these qualifications as normal.

Awarding organisations have until 31 December 2017 to remove reference to QCF from existing qualifications.

As we start to remove reference to QCF from existing qualification titles and literature, Centres should do the same. We will keep customers informed as to when qualifications are being updated.

New qualifications will be developed in line with the new rules for the RQF and may start to have a slightly different look and feel as the restrictions of the QCF have been lifted.

Centres will also be asked to aid awarding organisations with calculations for Total Qualification Time (TQT) and Guided Learning Hours (GLH) to ensure the size of a qualification is correct. This work will be continuous on any new developments and as we move away from QCF qualifications in different sectors.

If you have any concerns or queries as to how these changes will affect you, then please do not hesitate to contact us or phone 0117 314 2800.
